Presentation by the 2025 Outstanding Young Alumnus, Ajeeta Khatiwada '10
3 p.m., T.J. Day Hall room 219
No cost
In this talk, Ajeeta will share how her journey from studying physics at Linfield led her to analyzing data from high energy collisions at CERN, where they recreate conditions similar to those that existed immediately after the Big Bang in order to understand the fundamental building blocks of matter. She then explored the hottest, densest forms of matter through heavy ion experiments at Brookhaven and now works on nuclear data research at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Along the way, Ajeeta switched fields multiple times, but each step built skills that opened new doors. She will also talk about how tools like Machine Learning and AI are giving us powerful new ways to uncover hidden patterns and tackle problems we couldn’t solve before. Through this journey, she hopes to share how navigating changes with curiosity and openness can lead to a flexible, impactful, and deeply rewarding career in science.
