Dawn Graff-Haight was born in Wisconsin as one of eight children. Although sports opportunities for girls were limited before Title IX, she pursued her passion by studying physical education in college. A broken collarbone led her to shift into health education, a “happy accident” that shaped her lifelong career as an educator. She earned her Ph.D. at Oregon State University and began her career teaching health in public schools before moving into higher education.
From 1996 to 2019, Graff-Haight taught health education courses at 探花直播, preparing students for careers in schools and community health. She also taught popular courses for the broader student body, including Human Sexuality and Drugs in the US. After retiring from her full-time faculty position in 2019, she continued to teach for Online and Continuing Education and now also serves as an adjunct professor at Cleveland State University.
Her teaching and research have included leading travel courses to Japan and Costa Rica, where she explored connections between health, ecology, and longevity. She even checked off a bucket-list goal in 2019 by hiking to the top of Mt. Fuji.
Graff-Haight describes herself as “the luckiest person on Earth” for the opportunity to teach her passion and work closely with college students. Outside the classroom, she enjoys sports, theater and music, and remains an active presence at campus events.
